Volt sales fall in January

Detroit News -- General Motors extended-range electric Chevrolet Volt had its worst sales month since August, as negative publicity over fire risks hurt vehicles sales in January.

GM sold just 603 Volts - above its sales in January 2011, but far below GM's best-ever sales month in December, when GM sold 1,529 Volts.

Last week, GM North America President Mark Reuss said sales of the Volt have been hurt by bad publicity.

Reuss said bad publicity from the government's investigation into fire risks of post-crash Volts is "definitely a component" of the decline in sales.

GM sold about 7,700 in 2011, below GM's target of 10,000. GM abandoned its sales target of 45,000 for 2012 last month, saying it would match "supply to demand."

GM was outsold by Nissan Motor Co.'s all-electric Leaf in 2011

sounds to me as though someone is trying to prove that you can run down the charge fast. Well, I'm sure if I were to drive it fast and furious, I'd get the same results.
And I agree, rumble, a good rant is always better in the media than stating dry facts.

The other truth is, it has been clear from before the car was first offered, the actual range will vary depending on temperature, terrain, and driving style.
We have no idea how he drives, except he is a tailgater.
We don't know what mode he was driving in. If he was driving in Sport Mode, he would be consuming more power, which would also play into the story he wanted to happen.

Funny, Edmunds had a Volt for a 1,000 mile test drive and had no complaints. Popular Mechanics got about 40 miles on a charge on their test. The Sympatico road test was close to the same.
Department of Transportation figures give a range of 25 to 50 miles, again depending on who is driving, where it is driven, and the climate.

If somebody got stranded in a Volt because he was too damned stupid to have gasoline in the tank that would say something about the person.
However, guess what? He didn't get stranded! Watch the video on Fox, he said straight out it switched to gasoline power, that is far from being stranded!
But one can't let the truth get in the way of a good rant and the females in newscast obviously didn't watch his commentary before commenting either.

Yeah, Eric Bolling (Fox Business News anchor) drove one of these for a week and was able to go only 25 miles on a full charge each try. He was stranded in the Lincoln tunnel every time.

Volt sales fall in January, a very Expensive vehicle to buy! There are too many people out of work, no money, no buy fuel, no drive and no buy car either! EV’s and Inbreds need a much longer driving/battery range, a different kind of ‘quick charge’ battery or charged battery swap, and a reasonable battery replacement price when that battery finally dies. *Develop an EV battery pack that does not overheat with operation of the vehicle, when charging or in long term storage.
Produce and ‘drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

When I see a volkswagon, I think of hitler. When and if I ever see a volt. I will think of that cheap crook, obummer. That car is the poster child of all his stupid reckless empty headed ideas. What a looser.

I hope that they don't try and bail out GM again, let it file for bankrupcy, shed the unions that are strangling it and maybe emerge a better company. I actually hope they fail, they had the obama kiss of death.
